Getting a job seems like a tireless and often fruitless task in this chaotic world. One puts in hundreds of applications, and goes on many interviews, only to be denied the job, and often have no clue why they didn’t get the job. So when a hiring manager of ten years took to the internet to share a story about how she refuses to hire people who don’t personally send her a thank you e-mail, an interesting debate was launched.
Jessica Liebman, the executive managing director of Insider Inc., posted an article on Business Insider in which she stated she swears by one simple rule, she will not hire someone who doesn’t send a thank you e-mail.
“As a hiring manager, you should always expect a thank-you email, and you should never make an offer to someone who neglected to send one,” Liebman wrote in the article.
When the public got wind of Petty Betty’s hiring practices, they quickly let her have it.
